- Season of Completion: Late Summer 2026
The Challenge
This Zephyrhills roof replacement took place in the Lake Bernadette community, an established residential area where many homes were constructed during the early 2000s. Property records show this particular home was built in 2002, putting its roofing structure in the age range where years of Florida sun, heat, humidity, and repeated storm seasons can begin exposing weaknesses in older roofing components.
The project photos showed more than ordinary cosmetic aging. The existing shingles had weathered significantly, while several areas beneath the roofing revealed previous penetrations, worn decking, and localized deterioration. Interior photos also documented ceiling discoloration consistent with moisture intrusion, suggesting that water had already found a pathway through the roofing system.
That kind of problem can be difficult for homeowners to diagnose. Water entering around a plumbing vent, flashing point, or damaged section of decking may travel along framing before becoming visible inside the house. With Zephyrhills receiving frequent heavy thunderstorms during Florida’s warmer months, even relatively small vulnerabilities can turn into recurring leaks.
Scope of Work
Steadfast Roofing began by removing the existing shingles and underlayment so the roof deck could be inspected directly rather than simply covering over hidden problems.
Once exposed, the crew documented numerous sections of sheathing and identified areas requiring repair. Damaged and compromised decking was removed and replaced with new panels, restoring a solid, level surface for the new roofing system.
Next, ABC Pro Guard 20 synthetic underlayment was installed across the roof deck to provide an additional moisture-resistant barrier beneath the shingles. New white drip edge was fitted along the roof perimeter to help direct water away from the fascia and decking.
The crew also rebuilt and sealed critical penetrations, including plumbing vents, with new flashing details. These areas received particular attention because penetrations are among the most vulnerable points of any roofing system during wind-driven rain.
The final roof covering consisted of IKO architectural shingles in Summit Grey, finished with carefully aligned hip and ridge-cap shingles for a clean, dimensional appearance.
The Result
The finished transformation is especially clear in the aerial photographs. The home’s older, weathered roof was replaced with a crisp grey roofing system featuring consistent shingle courses, clean hip lines, properly finished penetrations, and sharply defined edges.
Summit Grey was also a strong aesthetic choice for this property. Its combination of light and darker grey tones complements the home’s neutral stucco exterior, white garage door, dark trim, and tropical landscaping without overpowering the architecture.
More importantly, the improvement went well beyond curb appeal. By removing compromised decking and addressing vulnerable areas beneath the shingles, Steadfast Roofing created a stronger foundation for the entire roof system instead of relying on surface-level repairs.
Why This Project Matters
Lake Bernadette includes many early-2000s single-family homes and offers community features such as sidewalks, recreation areas, a pool, tennis facilities, playgrounds, and golf access. For homeowners in neighborhoods of this age, roof condition is becoming increasingly important as original and older replacement systems continue to experience years of Florida exposure.
A reliable Zephyrhills roof needs more than attractive shingles. Sound decking, synthetic underlayment, secure edge protection, properly flashed penetrations, and careful installation all work together when intense sun gives way to sudden thunderstorms and wind-driven rain.
